The Parcours de l’Art Avignon celebrates its 30th anniversary by spotlighting of the body and movement. The Parcours de l’Art Avignon, a contemporary art festival, is heralding its 30th edition with a special theme for this Olympic year: the body and movement. 20 artists will be gathered for this anniversary edition. Since the winter of 2021, the new collective steering the festival has embarked on a journey of exploring a specific theme each year. As the editions go by, our commitment is to enhance support for artists by providing compensation and leveraging our professional expertise to showcase their works at Avignon’s most iconic heritage sites, within this culturally rich city. The festival will take place from October 11th to 27th, 2024, offering All Saints’ Day vacationers, both local and national, the opportunity to partake in this enriching cultural event amidst the mild Indian summer of Provence. The reinforcement of our team and organization through collective intelligence, along with an increase in our resources from various project calls and sponsorship endeavors, empowers us to expand our programming. This includes more artistic events, diverse public engagement activities, and additional creative residencies for artists. Among the numerous artists who responded to our call for applications, we have selected 12 talents: Awena Cozannet, Mathis Benestebe, Emmanuel Béranger, Elsa Chazal, Darius Dolatyari, Françoise Joudrier, Amandine Maillot, Mariam Niare, Gilles Pourtier, Fu Le, Patrick Vandercateele, and Chloé Viton. Their works span a wide artistic spectrum, embracing textiles, photography, painting, performance, sculpture, video, and even unconventional mediums like granite, smoke, and some peculiar creatures. They weave narratives of our individual bodies and provoke inquiries into the shapes of our vast collective body. Bodies, whether evoked, represented, or conspicuously absent, engage in a dance or performance that interlaces the political and the poetic, ultimately transforming into a language through the medium of movement. Furthermore, we have granted carte blanche to renowned artists: Edmond Baudoin, a draughtsman; Nadia Vadori-Gaultier, a dancer and choreographer; Thierry de Mey, a composer and videographer; and Macha Polivka, a dancer. As a festival devoid of creation lacks its essence, and the generation of new works serves as the lifeblood of artists, we have invited Salomé Fauc, Jean Sanchez, Goddog, and Caroline Bizalion for creative residencies. Get ready for a vibrant and festive edition, brimming with exhibitions, meetings, performances, screenings, shows, and discussions. Join us as volunteers, members, sponsors, patrons, partners, or media, to contribute your expertise and support to the festival.
